Earlier this morning, Russia fired up to 12 ballistic missiles against Kyiv killing up to 9 residents and wounding up to 63 others. Drones and missiles were also used to target civilians and apartments in Kharkiv.
Russia’s attack on civilians comes after Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky rejected a US offer of capitulation whereas Ukraine gives up most of its territory it has lost to Russia. US State Secretary Marco Rubio has reiterated his statement yesterday evening, that if Ukraine does not capitulate, the US will be pulling out of “peace talks”. The Us is also pressuring Ukraine and Europe to lift sanctions on Russia.
Russia has escalated its attacks on Ukrainian civilians since the US-brokered โpeace talksโ with Ukraine, using the assaults as a means to pressure Ukraine into capitulating to its demands.
Following remarks by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio about pulling out of “peace talks,” President Zelensky posted a 2018 statement issued by former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, in which the US reaffirmed its support for Ukraineโs sovereignty and borders.
