Joseph Muscat threatens the Prime Minister not to discard his (Muscat’s) allies and associates

Joseph Muscat is clearly losing his power and influence in the Labour Party as he appeals in public to Prime Minister Robert Abela to retain his criminal crew in positions of power both in the government and in the party. The Prime Minister has appeased Joseph Muscat and his faction following the European Parliament election results in a bid to bring back lost Labour Party votes.

So far, Joseph Muscat’s contribution to the Labour Party since 2024 hasn’t flipped the electoral stalemate and as time passes by, Joseph Muscat is becoming increasingly dispensable for the Labour Party. He is slowly turning into a sitting duck with his opportunities for political becoming dimmer. The best Joseph Muscat can do at this point is to support Alex Agius Saliba for a future Labour Party leadership bid, which he is doing already.

Why would Joseph Muscat need to publicly threaten the Prime Minister to keep his trusted associates in the Party? It’s because Joseph Muscat has no power and is completely depending on the Prime Minister. I may have underestimated the Prime Minister’s position in the saga about Jason Micallef’s gravel scandal in Ta’ Qali.

If the Prime Minister was not involved in this case (the contractor is the Prime Minister’s friend) there is a very easy case for Jason Micallef to get fired for his stupidity and wasting of funds. Obviously, the Prime Minister can’t fire Jason Micallef if he was involved with him in this aberration.

Note that Jason Micallef is a massive liability to the Labour Party and brings no value whatsoever. Joseph Muscat is being very deceiving here because Jason Micallef’s contribution to the Labour Party has always been negative. Jason Micallef was Alfred Sant’s Secretary-General who oversaw consecutive election defeats and then took over ONE’s administration running its finances to the ground. Joseph Muscat knows all of this very well but beggars can’t be choosers, and Joseph Muscat has to contend with any allies he can find.

On the other hand, defending Joseph Muscat from his crimes has brought the Prime Minister absolutely no dividends and it has alienated a very large section of Labour Party members. I was one of those who left.

The Prime Minister knows he can have the support of rebel factions in the Labour Party (such as Chris Fearne’s) if he decides to clean his party from Joseph Muscat’s criminal gang, but he has consistently chosen to support Joseph Muscat and preserve his Devil’s Pact with him. On the other hand, the Prime Minister should be made aware, that at the end of the day, just as he used his executive power to create dysfunction in the justice system to protect Joseph Muscat, he can equivalently use his executive power to protect the Labour Party from Joseph Muscat’s criminal gang.

  3. Jason Micallef is a bit like Karl Stagno Navarra. Useless, a liability and always hanging around.

In Jason’s favor he is not quite as useless as KSN nor a crook like KSN.
