The Maltese Herald has been featured in a new investigation on Alkgaesta: Malta’s largest oil bunkerer. The secret-owner of the Azerbaijani oil trading cony based in Malta, Adnan Ahmadzada was arrested last year in Azerbaijan over oil fraud. He is suspected of trafficking Russian oil and mixing Russian oil with other oil products.
The new investigation by the Swiss-based press outlet, Zurich Weekly News Review, states that Ukraine is buying diesel from tankers arriving at the Romanian port of Constanศa. The source origina of most of this diesel is being logged from India but the oil actually derives from Russia according to the press outlet. Ukraine depends on diesel imports after Russia destroyed Ukraine’s Kremenchuk refinery.
This is not the first time that investigations have pointed out that Romania is being used as a route for Russian oil. Last year, an investigation also raveled that the Petrobrazi Refinery in Romania was importing Russian-crude oil. Alkagesta is be investigated by multiple international authorities over its illicit trade practices.
