Opposition Leader Alex Borg has requested the President of the Republic Myriam Spiteri Debono to be present during meetings between him and the Prime Minister about the nomination of the Chief Justice. The Opposition and Nationalist Party Leader added that he requested the same procedure for discussions on the appointment of the Auditor-General.
Opposition Leader Alex Borg said that he was doing this request in response to false allegations being made about the judicial nomination process by the Prime Minister and denied allegations against him by the Prime Minister. Jason Azzopardi also denied the Prime Minister’s absurd allegations.
Yesterday in Parliament, the Opposition voted against the government-motion to appoint Judge Consuelo Scerri Herrera for Chief Justice.
