According to the latest NSO statistics, the total number of tourists coming to Malta in 2025 reached a record of 4.02 million people and the total expenditure amounted up to €3.9 billion. The figures are consistent and align with the monthly figures issued last year. The expenditure is also a record with 2024’s expenditure hovering around €3.3 billion.

In a message that he uploaded on his social media account, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign and Tourism Minister Ian Borg applauded the results but reiterated the government’s policy to move to higher quality tourism. He said that the government will be focusing more on promoting historical sites than the music festivals that it has been promoting in the previous years. The government intends to attract higher quality tourists to avoid increasing pressure on the nation’s infrastructure and add value to the sector.
