The previous British Ambassador to the US, Peter Mandelson, has had his Ġieħ Ir-Repubblika Honour taken away from him by the Maltese Government according to a notice published today in the Government Gazette. The honour was awarded to him by disgraced ex-Prime Minister Joseph Muscat in 2016.
Calls are ongoing in the UK for his arrest following the release of the Jeffrey Epstein files but he is already under police investigation. Andrew Mountbatten was arrested and questioned by the British police yesterday.
The British Prime Minister’s Chief of Staff and Communications Director resigned over the appointment of Peter Mandelson.
Peter Mandelson featured extensively in the Jeffrey Epstein files and is suspected of having raped minors and also disclosing state secrets and insider information to Jeffrey Epstein.
