Deborah Schembri is one of the many lawyers and opportunists who joined the Labour Party out of personal interest. Lately she has been promoting Labour’s wholesale takeover of the Judiciary.
Deborah Schembri is a ruthless opportunist, a grifter and unprincipled mercenary who will join or work for the highest bidder. She made a name for herself by campaigning for divorce and then used her newfound popularity to offer her services to Joseph Muscat. In her political career, she was appointed Parliamentary of Planning and promoted Joseph Muscat’s destructive planning policies. She is a family lawyer but was positioned for this job for her ability to communicate propaganda effectively.
In 2016, Deborah Schembri approved the new sanctioning policies for Urban Conservation Areas which enabled the regularisation of illegalities that included modifications and new developments in Malta’s historical towns and villages. Then in 2017, having the responsibility over the LANDS department, Deborah Schembri gave L-Aħrax tal-Mellieħa to the FKNK: an illegal and outrageous decision which was overturned by the Courts.
Then, following her stint as Parliamentary Secretary, she left politics and went straight through the revolving door to become appointed as a director of the Malta Developer’s Association (remember that she is a family lawyer). Now, as the government is trying to push the most corrupt planning policies in history, Deborah Schembri is back to explain to its voters and electorate, that she, supposedly a neutral lawyer with an objective perspective, finds Labour’s proposed plsn for dictatorship and unchecked development as acceptable.
Labour is being run by parasites and most of its politicians are in it for themselves: Deborah Schembri is the textbook example. Not a Labourite, not a Nationalist, not someone genuinely interested in politics, doesn’t have any genuine concerns and neither any will to improve the country and do the right thing, but is rather only interested in getting richer and acquiring more power and influence in a party for criminals, frauds and grifters.
