EXCLUSIVE: Christian Borg strikes a deal with the Taxman: no criminal charges over tax evasaion

Notorious ex-cocaine dealer, previous owner of lions that he abandoned and the ex-business partner of the incumbent Prime Minister, Christian Borg, has struck a deal with the tax department to pay over €1 million in payments over tax evasion. Christian Borg was investigated for tax evasion and money laundering the deal struck also includes a deal with the Attorney-General for no further charges over money-laundering and tax fraud and evasion.

Christian Borg was investigated over money-laundering by the authorities due to unknown provenance of his wealth. He was also investigated over tax fraud as a result.

Christian Borg is benefitting from latest tax reforms that replaced criminal charges over tax evasion with payment obligations to the tax authorities.

Christian Borg previously had a corrupt relationship with previous corrupt taxman Marvin Gaerty, who is now Executive chairman of MALITA Investments. Borg has also been extensively protected by the authorities thanks to his relationship with Prime Minister Robert Abela. He was also supposed to testify in front of the Parliamentary Privileges Committee.
