Israel’s Channel 14 is the latest media outlet to report about a growing rift between the President of Iran, Masoud Pezeshkian and the Head of the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps, Ahmad Vahidi. President Pezeshkian is being alleged to be willing to sign a peace deal between the US with press reports stating that the Iranian President wants to end the war as quickly as possible. The Iranian President believes that Iranians will endure severe economic hardship if the wear continues.
President Pezeshkian previously apologised to the Gulf states for the barrage of Iranian missile and drone attacks indicating a much moderate position on the war in comparison to the IRGC. The Iranian President also praised Spain for its refusal to aid or participate inthe war.
On the other hand, the IRGC are determined to continue the war, including by keeping the Strait of Hormuz closed. The US government is still asking its allies to prevent this from happening. Europe will only be involved in policing the strait after a ceasefire is announced.
Airstrikes on Iran continued today by both Israel and the US on several cities including Tehran and Isfahan.
The White House is insisting that negotiations with the Iranian regime are ongoing and are also very positive, but the Iranian regime has denied that such talks are talking place.
