After Daphne Caruana Galizia was murdered with a car-bomb in 2017, the Labour Party issued a very nominal and economical condemnation against the murder which quickly fizzled into nothing. You can read the disgraceful Labour Party’s half-hearted condemnation against her murder below.
After this two-sentence statement, the Labour Party continued propagating hatred against the slain journalist and her family members, at times even implying that her son, Matthew Caruana Galizia had contributed to her murder. The Labour Party even accused Matthew of ill-will for refusing to hand over her laptop to the Maltese Police, then led by corrupt Police Commissioner Lawrence Cutajar.
Clearly, the Labour Party tried to exert pressure on the family to hand over Daphne’s laptop to pry into her sources and her private life.
Apart from conducting a hateful and vilifying campaign against Daphne Caruana Galizia and her family, the Labour Party even abetted its activists to trash her memorial and her memorial in front of the law Courts was only preserved thanks to a Court sentence. Labour government Ministersย openly supported this vandalism.
This behaviour is not only reprehensible but also deeply malicious and downright evil. History will judge harshly those within the Labour Party who spread and enabled this campaign of hatred, and there appears to be little prospect of redemption for those who knowingly contributed to it.
The accused murder of Daphne Caruana Galizia is currently on trial.
