Protests in Belgrade continue on Christmas Day

Serbs were still out in the streets of Belgrade yesterday, protesting against alleged fraud in the last general election which saw the incumbent President Aleksandar Vucic claim victory. EU election observers have alleged serious irregularities in the election process. Protesters were met by Serbian riot police who used tear gas and arrested dozens.

Aleksandar Vucic has applied a foreign policy of pretending to strengthen relationships with the West, all the while trying to cause another crisis in Kosovo and strengthening Belgrade’s relationship with Moscow. He also says he wants Serbia to join the EU but very few take him seriously.
