Elena Lasconi to face-off far-right candidate Calin Georgescu in Presidential run-off on December 8th

Elena Lasconi has edged ahead of incumbent Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu to secure her position as the main contender against election victor and far-right candidate Călin Georgescu. Lasconi came in second with 19.1% of the vote, while Georgescu received up to 23%.

It is highly likely that Marcel Ciolacu, who obtained up to 19% of the vote will rally his supporters to vote for Elena Lasconi in a coalition movement to prevent Georgescu from winning the second-round.

Elena Lasconi is a former journalist, current mayor of Câmpulung, and leader of the Save Romania Union (USR), and is running on a pro-European and pro-Ukrainian platform.
