Parliamentary Secretary for Animals Rights confirms to Times of Malta that wild animals owners will be given an amnesty

Following our story about the government’s rushed bill to cover-up for Christian Borg over his abandoned lions, Times of Malta called the Parliamentary Secretary of animal Rights, Alicia Bugeja Said, who confirmed with them that the government is awarding an amnesty for anyone owning unregistered wild and exotic animals.

Unfortunately, Times of Malta did not make a reference to our story, despite pitching questions based on the information we provided. We find this disappointing.

As for the Parliamentary Secretary Alicia Bugeja Said, her legacy so far as a newcomer in Labour has been to give criminals the right to import wild and exotic animals freely, and now she is giving them the right to get away with any infractions. More specifically, she is covering up for Christian Borg and even ensuring that the government pays for the relocation of the lions he abandoned.

Her actual title is Parliamentary Secretary for Fisheries, Aquaculture and Animal Rights. Her political campaign was bankrolled by a major and local tuna-farmer and she has been responsible for laws that are anathema to animal rights, but very much in favour to the couple of individuals who own lions and wild animals. The criminal branding of this government can’t be even more on point if they tried.
