Talks between Ukraine and the US resume in Jeddah: President Zelensky insists Russia has to stop airstrikes against cities

Talks between Ukrainian and the US delegations have resumed in Jeddah, Saudi Arabiua over the US proposed peace deal between Ukraine and Russia. Ukrainian Defence Minister Rustem Umerov stated that talks with the US delegation were proceeding well. According to the Ukrainian Defence Minister, talks are ongoing on the security of civilian infrastructure.

Talks in Jeddah between Ukraine and the US started earlier this month. The US is pressuring Ukraine to accept a ceasefire and cede its occupied territory to Russia, but Ukraine has not accepted to these demands. The US is also pressuring Ukraine to sign a mineral rights deal, but this deal has also not been signed yet.

Russia has so far refused to accept any form of ceasefire with Ukraine, despite the White House insistence that Russia was adhering to a civilian infrastructure ceasefire. Russia struck Ukrainian cities and civilian infrastructure on a daily basis following the statement by the White House.

In a message from Kyiv, President Volodymyr Zelensky reiterated that Vladimir Putin should give an order to halt Russia’s airstrikes against Ukrainian cities. Meanwhile, Ukraine is making significant progress in the battlefield having invaded the village of Demidivka in the Belgorod region of Russia. The Ukrainians are also pushing back against the Russians in Toretsk.
