Israel kills up to seven people in Daraa, Syria

Israel killed up to seven people after it shelled the town of Koya in Daraa, Syria. The ongoing Israeli shelling and airstrikes in Syria are part of its aggressive operation to occupy and annex the south of Syria. The Israeli occupation of Syria was unprovoked and belligerent.

The Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement condemning Israel’s occupation of Syria and urged Syrians to resist Israeli occupation. Syrian residents in Koya also protested the Israeli aggression and vowed that their territory is Syrian and not Israeli.

Israeli is also using the Druze community in Daraa to stoke sectarian tensions but the Druze community have also reiterated their support for a united Syria that upholds its current borders and territorial integrity.

According to Israel’s largest commercial TV channels, Channel 12, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu wants to press to spread his message that a confrontation between Israel and Turkey is inevitable. Turkey is vying to take control of some military bases in the south of Syria to thwart Israeli aggression. A war of words between the two countries is ongoing, and the issue was also raised in discussions in Washington, held hours ago between Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Turkey’s Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan.
