Yesterday night, Israel continued its unprovoked aggression against Syria by conducting at least 10 airstrikes against Syrian Army units in the south of Syria, Daraa and also Damascus Airport. Civilians were also reportedly killed and injured in the city of Daraa by the airstrikes.
Israel is stoking sectarian tensions and fueling instability in Syria in order to further annex Syria’s territory east of the Golan Heights and the Daraa countryside. This is also the second time that the Syrian Army is engaged in operations against Hezbollah along the border since the fall of the Assad regime.
Israel launched its airstrikes as the Syrian Army was busy fighting Hezbollah terrorists on the Lebanese border in the Hawsh al-Sayyid Area in Hermel. The fighting, that has been ongoing since the weekend, has now abated as the Syrian Army entered Lebanon and captured the Hezbollah-controlled are of Hawsh al-Sayyid.
The Lebanese government said that this incursion and firing on Lebanon from the Syrian border is unacceptable and has sent the Lebanese Army to take control of the situation. However, latest press reports have stated that Lebanon and Syria have come to a ceasefire agreement. The fighting also seems to have abated.
