Usha and JD Vance cancel their visit to Greenland’s dog-sled race: Denmark’s Prime Minister’s condemns the trip

Usha and JD Vance have canceled their trip to Greenland’s dogsled race according to Denmark’s public broadcaster. US government officials went door to door in Greenland’s capital, Nuuk, asking residents whether they would welcome the Second Lady to Greenland, with most responding, “No”. They will now be limiting their visit to the US Pituffik Space Base in the far north-western corner of the country.

Greenland’s outgoing Prime Minister Múte Bourup Egede described the visit as “aggressive” and vowed not to meet with the couple. Incoming Prime Minister Jens-Frederik Nielsen described the visit as disrespectful. Denmark’s Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen also objected to the visit by the US Vice-President and his wife saying “It is unacceptable pressure being placed on Denmark & Greenland, and we will resist. It is not what Greenland wants or needs.”

Earlier in the evening President Donald Trump reiterated that the US must have Greenland for security purposes. All the major political parties in Greenland oppose integration with the US.
