Rada militia in Tripoli announces willingness to cooperate with the government in new security transition

The Rada armed-militia in Tripoli has declared its willingness to cooperate with the Libyan government in its transition to integrate armed militias with the regular police and armed forces.

The Rada armed militia was previously embattled by the pro-government militia the 444 Brigade following the killing of armed militia leader, Abdel Ghani Al-Kikli (or “Ghnewa”). The Prime Minister, Abdul Hamid Dbeibeh accused Al-Kikli of fomenting tyranny in Tripoli before its leader was killed by the 444 Brigade. The Prime Minister also accused other armed militias of lawlessness and criminality.

The Libyan Prime Minister is currently conducting a sweeping effort to integrate irregular armed militias with the regular armed forces and is also halting payments and salaries to armed militia members who refuse to cooperate.

The 444 Brigade is currently station at the Tripoli International Airport to deescalate tensions in the capital city and remove all visible of militia members from the streets.
