In what seems to be an incredibly bizarre act of criminals financing themselves through Court order, the Maksar brothers were allowed to sell a house they jointly owned in Ħaż Żebbuġ in 2022 while they were arrested. They kept the proceeds from the sale as these proceeds have not been confiscated by the Police. You can find the Court document authorising the sale of the property here.
The Court even allowed Adrian Agius to pay his life insurance from his bank account. Even this bank account has not been cofniscated.
Adrian and Robert Agius ran an organsied criminal network which supplied the bomb that killed Daphne Caruana Galizia and have been sentenced to life in prison for a series of crimes including the murder of Carmel Chircop. Although they have been handed life sentences for murder, their assets have not been confiscated.
