Khalifa Haftar’s invasion of Sudan was supported by the United Arab Emirates

Khalifa Haftar’s invasion of Sudan last month was supported by the United Arab Emirates as indicated by unusual cargo plane activity from the UAE to the east of Libya prior to the invasion.

Khalifa Haftar denied that he was invading Sudan, but last month, his troops crossed the Libyan border into Sudan and fought against the regular Sudanese army to take over the Sudanese border posts of the Libyan border triangle. The Rapid Support Forces now control the Sudanese border posts at the Libyan border.

Analyst Richard Tedd who regularly shares his findings on his Twitter account has identified a 50% increase in cargo flights from the United Arab Emirates to the east of Libya in the week prior to Haftar’s invasion of Sudan. The United Arab Emirates is the main weapons supplier to the RSF but Haftar is also responsible for delivering weapons to the RSF across the border.

The war against Sudan is being sponsored and supported by the Emirati Vice-President, Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al-Nahyan.
