Rapid Support Forces take over Libya Border Triangle: refugee crisis ongoing

Up to 1000 Sudanese migrants have reportedly fled the Libyan border triangle between Egypt, Chad and Sudan after Libya’s rump dictator, Khalifa Haftar, sent his forces to take over the area. Khalifa Haftar denied that his forces had invaded Sudan and that he is supporting the genocidal Rapid Support Forces, but extensive video footage proved otherwise.

The Libyan Government of National Unity has condemned Haftar’s invasion of Sudan.

Now, the RSF are saying that they have taken complete control over Sudan’s side of the Libyan border triangle. RSF leader Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo (Hemedti), broadcasted a speech last Sunday declaring control over Libya’s border triangle. He claims that he is in the west of Sudan. Footage showed that many of his troops were children.

Haftar’s intervention in favour of the RSF follows a wide series of military setbacks for the RSF including their loss of Sudan’s capital city, Khartoum.

Khalifa Haftar is actively supporting the RSF in its war against the Sudanese government and the Sudanese people. The United Arab Emirates is an ally both of Khalifa Haftar and the RSF.
