When asked about Russia’s drone attack on Poland, President Donald Trump refused to acknowledge the attack and said that it might have been a mistake. NATO also refused to acknowledge the attack. The EU acknowledged that Russia attacked Poland and issued a condemnation accordingly.
Meanwhile, the US has been in discussions with the Belarusian dictator Aleksander Lukaeshnko, whom President Trump praised multiple times as “a very respected person”. The US has just lifted sanctions against the Belarusian State-airline, Belavia. In exchange, Belarus has released up to 52 political prisoners including more than a dozen of foreign nationals from the US, Lithuania, Latvia, Poland, France, Britain and Germany. US Special Envoy Keith Kellogg also arrived in Kyiv with press reports stating that his plane was flying through Poland when the Russian drone attack took place. Some of the Russian drones that entered Poland are have been launched from Belarus where Russia is conducting joint military exercises. In a joint statement between the Foreign Ministries of Ukraine, Lithuania and Poland, the countries stated that Russia’s use of Belarusian airspace is a threat to the whole region.
