I held back from commenting extensively about Alex Borg during the leadership race and after he won the race to give enough time for facts to accumulate before passing judgement. Now Alex Borg has clarified everything we accused him of, including being just another Labour Party copycat.
The appointment of Joe Giglio as Shadow Minister of Justice is a signal that the Nationalist Party will continue the Labour Party’s trade in corruption with regard to the Office of the Attorney General. The Justice Minister Jonathan Attard is in regular contact with the sleazy and corrupt Attorney-General Victoria Buttigieg mainly to pursue efforts to cover-up for Labour Party criminal suspects.
Joe Giglio is one of the most morally corrupt lawyers in politics, having served as the lawyer to Pilatus Bank and even used his political position to pursue this legal brief in parliament by calling on the arrest of the Pilatus Bank whistleblower. Joe Giglio also supported the Labour Party’s reforms on money-laundering that disarmed the power of the authorities to conduct extensive asset freezes, enabling corrupt politicians like Joseph Muscat to enjoy their illicit proceeds all the while they are being charged in Court. He was also part of a group of MPs who pressured a colleague not to commemorate Daphne Caruana Galizia in parliament.
That is not all. The Shadow Justice Minister is also a lawyer to criminal suspects who are suspected of being Joseph Muscat’s money-laundering mules, like Nigel Scerri.
This is also Alex Borg’s thank you gift to Joe Giglio for supporting him in his leadership race.
The previous PN Shadow Minister of Justice was Karol Aquilina, who has now been relegated to ย Public Administration and Efficiency in the Public Sector.
If this isn’t the Nationalist Party’s attempt to continue and preserve the corrupt regime of Labour then I don’t know what it is. The Nationalist Party doesn’t lack lawyers for the post of Justice Minister. The fact that Alex Borg chose Joe Giglio for this post is an explicit and very transparent signal that the Nationalist Party isn’t going to be any different from Labour. This was the best way to convince me and many others to vote third party in the upcoming elections.
