The Labour Party is closing off the year in its typical diabolical manner by accusing members of the Opposition of treason. Jason Micallef is being credited for Valletta’s nightlife and is also hailed for his success at throwing a New Year’s Eve Party in Valletta. Meanwhile, ex-Minister Clayton Bartolo played his violin in a very heartbreaking statement in which he declared the martyrdom of his family after he indulged in blatant and rampant corruption.
Clearly, the Labour Party is building a society for itself and this society is based on lies, mediocrity, sleaze, and the principle of might is right. The Labour Party is wielding power at its discretion, and violating the rule-of-law and democratic norms, to build its society: this is the illiberal society in formation. Dissidents are hounded and excluded from society and its economy. Corrupt Labour politicians are covered up and corruption remains unchecked. The media and the press are dumbed down to destroy checks and balances and stifle critical voices. Government policy is aimed at strengthening the party and helping its donors, with the current government pushing a free for all planning and construction disaster.ย In order to survive and keep its donors happy, the Labour Party is also set to sell the Island to the Chinese while our citizenship is also being handed out for free to foreign athletes.
Everything is for sale as long Labour gets a cut or a photo opportunity. Nothing is sacred any longer and values have become liabilities.
At the end of the day, this is a society based on lies and deceit. Members of the Opposition aren’t being treasonous when criticising the Labour government for corruption: in fact corruption is one of the main topics for the EU agenda next year. Jason Micallef has literally made zero contributions to Malta’s cultural and economic development, despite his token titles which are only meant to keep him happy with a salary. And Clayton Bartolo, didn’t have his assets freeze removed because there is no case about his corruption, it’s because asset freezes are used as precautionary warrant, and the Labour Party actually legislated a law that reduced the extent of the asset freeze of criminal suspects.

The economy is doing well, but so is inequality by all metrics. This is not an issue. Labour’s grand vision is to turn all of our abandoned and unused agricultural land into solar-panel sites.
Mediocrity, environmental destruction, banality and stagnation.
The Minister for Finances says that Malta’s low birth-rate is Malta’s biggest existential threat. I agree.ย He should ask his colleagues why do they think that Maltese women don’t want to have children in our society under these conditions. I wonder what the reasons may be.
It’s a complete mystery.
