The Coalition of the Willing met earlier today in Paris along with Ukrainian President Volodomyr Zelensky to discuss the technical details of Europe’s proposed 20-point peace plan. Prior to the meeting, French President Emmanuel Macron and President Zelensky held a meeting in private. Following the meeting with the European coalition partners, the Ukrainian delegation also met with the US delegation composed of Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner who are representing US and Russian interests.
General Kyrylo Budanov, the previous head of the Ukrainian intelligence Services, now President Volodomyr Zelensky’s Chief of Staff, replacing Rustem Umerov, was also present for the meetings and was seen conversing with Steve Witkoff. When asked by an Ukrainian journalist what will his new role entailed he replied with “You will see”.
After the meetings a press conference was held including German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, President Zelensky, President Macron and the US delegation. Before the press conference was announced, President Emmanuel Macron, and Prime Minister Keir Starmer signed a guarantee with President Zelensky committing troops to Ukraine for security guarantees.
British Prime Minister Starmer stated that long-term support in the supply of weapons will continue. The British Prime Minister said that Vladimir Putin doesn’t show a will to establish peace as he keeps attacking civilians and striking hospitals, and also stated that pressure on the Russian shadow-fleet will continue. He also called the claims of a Ukrainian drone attack on Putin’s residence as “unfounded”.
Steve Witkoff said that negotiations over land options are ongoing and he hoped that compromises can be made.
