The US continues to strong-arm Ukraine to surrender to Russia, this time with further talks in Berlin between President Volodymyr Zelensky and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz and the US delegation. The US delegation was led by Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff who are pushing the US-Kremlin Pact. Ukraine and Germany discussed the European 20-point counter-proposal.
Ukraine is believed to have dropped its demand for NATO membership but President Zelensky is sticking to his position of refusing territorial concessions. There are no details published about the results of the meeting in Berlin. The meeting took five hours.
During the day talks were being held, Russia launched up to 140 drones and missiles on Ukrainian citizens and civilians injuring dozens of peopleย and also hitting a supermarket in Zaporizhzhia killing at least one person. Russia is escalating its attacks on Ukrainian civilians to put more pressure on Ukraine.
As the US and Russia increase their pressure, Several European leaders including Malta’s Prime Minister are jumping on the bandwagon of Russian propaganda and are echoing Russian talking points in a bid for cheap political populism.
The European Council will today hold a meeting with European Foreign Ministers and continue discussing the Ukraine reparations loan.
