Greenland’s Prime Minister Jens-Frederik Nielsen has rejected President Donald Trump’s renewed calls to annex Greenland which he made again during the weekend. Premier Nielsen described President Trump’s proposal as a “fantasy” and unacceptable. Press reporters asked President Trump over Greenland in the backdrop of the US military intervention in Venezuela.
Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen said that President Trump’s threats on Greenland are serious and warned him that the NATO alliance would end if he chooses to go ahead with his plans to annex Greenland.
The Coalition of the Willing is meeting today in Paris to continue discussing along with President Volodymyr Zelensky, the military set-up over Europe’s and Ukraine’s 20-point peace plan for Ukraine. However, Greenland will also be discussed on sidelines and the Danish Prime Minister will also be attending. France has signed a defence agreement with Denmark guaranteeing its sovereignty and borders. Canada’s Prime Minister Mark Carney is also present in Paris for the meeting along with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and Finnish President Alexander Stubb – both of whom also rejected Trump’s calls to annex Greenland.
Ukraine is currently under pressure by daily Russian aerial bombardments in order to force it to sign a capitulation deal.
