Amid the multiple criminal conspiracies and cover-ups that Police Commissioner Angelo Gafa is involved in to protect the corrupt politicians of the Labour government, there’s the ongoing cover-up of the extended corruption of the disgraced ex-Tourism Minister Clayton Bartolo and his new wife, Amanda Muscat.
Clayton Bartolo eloped with Amanda Muscat when he became Minister and soon after he gave her a consultancy contract worth up to €70,000 with Gozo Minister Clint Camilleri. They went on to open a cafeteria with all the bribes and syphoning of public funds. What we know
Now, Times of Malta is reporting that Amanda Muscat was paid up to €120,000 from the Fortina Group, supposedly as the personal assistant of the CEO Edward Zammit Tabona. Fortina Group is involved in multiple government-linked scandals and they are also major donors of the Labour Party. Fortina Group is involved in tourism via hotels and ferries and other services and outlets. They had very close relations with Clayton Bartolo when he was Minister of Tourism.
The Times of Malta is also reporting that a prosecutor told them that they are finding problems presenting a case for corruption with the usual adage about lack of evidence – the same story repeats itself over and over again with the authorities refusing to admit they have enough evidence to prosecute only for this evidence to later on resurface in the press (and the journalists accused of terrorism for publishing the said evidence and supposedly interfering with Police affairs).
Another interesting thing that the Times reported is that Amanda Muscat was transferred to the Central Bank of Malta (of all places) following her posting with the Institute of Tourism Studies and during the same time she was also employed as the personal assistant of Edward Zammit Tabona. Amanda Muscat violated the rules and regulations of the Central Bank because Central Bank Staff aren’t supposed to have formal employment elsewhere.
The irregularities and the sleaze are exasperating and never-ending. And all of it is being normalised under a corrupt Police Commissioner and an equally corrupt Attorney-General.
