Karl Stagno Navarra’s intimidation of Jason Azzopardi brings back memories of Daphne Caruana Galizia’s murder, but there’s a difference

After the Labour Party propogandist Karl Stagno Navarra published a video of himself trying to intimidate Jason Azzopardi by walking up to him as he was parking his car in Sliema, the scene brought back memories when Daphne Caruana Galizia was hounded and followed by Neville Gafa prior to her murder. Jason Azzopardi is currently under fire by the government for requesting multiple Magisterial Inquiries, and the government even rushed to amend the law to prevent him from filing more requests as they accused him “extremism”.

Prior to her murder, Daphne Caruana Galizia was followed, stalked and harassed by Neville Gafa, who was then a Labour propogandist and OPM fixer. This event marked an escalation in the systematic propaganda and condemnations against Daphne Caruana Galizia: newly appointed Labour MP Ramona Attard was one of the Labour propagandists involved in this campaign.

Karl Stagno Navarra is also a typical Labour propogandist: doing Labour propaganda while getting paid for a fake government job. He confronted Jason Azzopardi about a reserved parking space he was allocated while he was under police protection. Jason Azzopardi’s police protection has been removed after the government accused him of “extremism” and amended the law to prevent him from filing further Magisterial Inquiries. It is very clear that what Karl Stagno Navarra did was an act of intimidation and Jason Azzopardi is being targeted. I obviously declare my full solidarity and support to him.

However, there is a very big difference today from the acts of intimidation of yesterday. Back then the Labour Party was at its peak and it appeared invincible. Its leaders and officials felt powerful enough to do whatever they wanted without facing any consequences for their behavior, and the inevitable result is history. Even Neville Gafa and his likes seemed untouchables. It was the height of his career, there as he wielded his authority by harassing and stalking journalists and government critics. Not today, however.

Today, Labour is collapsing. Karl Stagno Navarra’s propaganda programme has been axed as Labour tried to quietly get rid of all of its pro-Muscat voices on ONE. Even Karl Stagno Navarra looks like a completely broken man, unsure of himself and what he is doing. Years and years of taking on multiple debts to fund his lavish lifestyle and cocaine habit have worn him down, at least that’s what multiple sources have told me. From hanging around with Italian tourists at his Saint Julian’s penthouse, to living by himself in the grey central suburbs while getting chased for debts, Karl Stagno Navarra has taken multiple downgrades in his life. He is now looking ahead at a future of irrelevance and and isolation as the world he once depended on, the world of crime and scummery of Joseph Muscat, is in total shambles.

This does not mean that Jason Azzopardi is not in danger or that we shouldn’t take his security seriously. On the contrary, as Labour keeps losing support, tensions may rise even further with, potentially, the Prime Minister encouraging his supporters and close associates to act even bolder. Ultimately, he is to blame for this situation because he is the one who has raised tensions in the first place, attacked Jason Azzopardi and allowed his MPs to deliver a number of attacks against journalists from Parliament. The Prime Minister is deliberately putting the Opposition in danger, legislating in favour of criminals, and raising tensions in society.

Speaking of the Opposition, where are they in all of this apart from their inebriated press releases? A large number of PN MPs are completely ignoring this situation including the infamous Alex Borg-Adrian Delia clique. Many of them haven’t even said anything at all. Jason Azzopardi has become an Opposition to the government by himself and PN prefers to treat him as an outsider instead of building bridges with him. I find this situation absurd.

The PN made a big mistake when they sidelined Jason Azzopardi. He is one of the best, and without him and others like him, they don’t stand a chance of being elected.
