Police Commissioner Angelo Gafà has previously fired various police officers over accusations of leaking information to the press. Yet he has no qualms about immediately leaking information on personal cases involving his critics.
Yesterday, very soon after a domestic incident took place at Robert Aquilina’s home, and his wife reported about him about domestic abuse, the information about the case was leaked immediately to Saviour Balzan. Multiple sources have confirmed to us that Saviour Balzan received the news from the Police Commissioner.
The Maltese Herald has confirmed that a report was actually filed but there is no mention about a violent incident. The Duty-Magistrate refused to issue an arrest warrant and the case will be heard soon in Court.
Robert Aquilina was the President of Repubblika and a dedicated activist to the rule-of-law. He has been one of the Police Commissioner’s biggest critics and is currently chairing the branch of Fondazione Falcone in Malta.
