An extensive cover-up and an obstruction of justice over Pilatus Bank

The overriding scandal about the Pilatus Bank is not that there were Police officers leaking details about the Magisterial Inquiry on Pilatus Bank that was kept hidden from the public. The scandal is that the Attorney-General and the Police Commissioner collaborated with each other to turn the case about the corrupt bank into a simple issue about regulatory compliance and eventually restricting prosecution to the risk-management employees.

The attention addressed to the risk-management employees is deceptive and aimed at diverting attention from the actual perpetrators of the crime who are the owner of the bank, Seyed Ali Sadr Hasheminejad, and Keith Schembri who intended to use the bank as part of his international money-laundering schemes. Brian Tonna actually transferred up to โ‚ฌ100,000 from a Pilatus Bank account to Keith Schembri allegedly over a bribe on a passport sales.

The Magisterial Inquiry was also incomplete with no Police investigation backing it. No actual money sleuthing was presented and the Police also did not follow up or make their own investigations. You can find a copy of the inquiry here, which was also conducted by a private firm, so that the Police could wash their hands can refuse to claim responsibility.

The Attorney-General even refused to prosecute the owner of the bank on spurious reasons provided by foreign kangaroo courts, making a total mockery of her office and the Maltese State in the process.

The case of Pilatus Bank is a textbook example of an outright obstruction of justice by the Attorney-General and the Police Commissioner which has now been turned into a witch-hunt against the main and public whistleblower, Robert Aquilina, who alerted the public about this obstruction of justice.

Joseph Muscat, Keith Schembri and Brian Tonna are very pleased about this, but especially Seyed Ali Sadr Hasheminejad who could come to Malta, damage our financial reputation worldwide, and then leave as if nothing has ever happened. The Attorney General and the Police Commissioner allowed the Maltese state to be humiliated by international hucksters and grifters who could have easily been spotted and avoided from miles away.
