ABC News has reported that Ghislaine Maxwell got limited immunity during her meeting with the Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche. The meetings were requested by the Department of Justice in what the Attorney-General and her deputy claim to be attempts at pursuing the truth and justice, after the Department of Justice was criticised for its handling of the Jeffrey Epstein case. Press reports also state that Ghislaine Maxwell herself requested the meetings. Ghislaine Maxwell was questioned for a total of nine hours in two days with prosecutors saying she responded to very question.
Attorney-General Pam Bondi faced criticism for contradicting her earlier claim that the Jeffrey Epstein client list was “on her desk,” after the Department of Justice issued a statement denying the existence of any such list. Criticism of the Attorney-General also emanated from within President Trump’s administration with the President saying that the list is an “invention by the radical left”. The Republican led Congress closed down for recess earlier than expected to avoid a vote demanding the release of the files on the case of Jeffrey Epstein.
Questioned about giving a pardon to Ghislaine Maxwell, President Donald Trump said that he hasn’t thought about that yet but has the power to do so. Questioned on the Jeffrey Epstein files, President Trump said that “I can give you a list” and said that the press should go after Bill Clinton, the president of Harvard University and hedge fund managers. The unusual meetings with Ghislaine Maxwell, who is serving a 20-year prison sentence for conspiring in the sex trafficking of minors with Jeffrey Epstein, are adding to suspicions that the Attorney General is attempting to cover up for President Trump in the case. Attorney-General Pam Bondi was also Florida’s Attorney-General from 2011 to 2019 when she upheld a prosecutorial agreement with Jeffrey Epstein and avoided any new investigations against him.
