The Azeri press is reporting that a British lawyer called Tim Maltin of MaltinPR (no relation to Malta) was paid up to £1 million to take down articles about Adna Ahmadzada’s companies from the internet. The Azeri press is reporting that Tim Maltin was delegated to address articles about Oilmar DMCC and Maddox DMCC, both registered in the United Arab Emirates and owned by Adnan Ahmadzada.
The Maltese Herald published Adnan Ahmadzada’s ownership document of Oilmar last year. You find the document here.
Adnan Ahmadzada was arrested by the Azeri authorities late last year over a case of oil fraud and oil trafficking related to Russian oil. He is also under investigation in multiple countries including the UK and Malta over his secret ownership of oil bunkering company, Alkagesta.
Alkagesta has conducted a very wide and systematic PR campaign to remove articles from the internet relating to investigations into it, and its related associates have also sent multiple legal letters. It has also delegated media outlets to conduct a PR campaign on its behalf.
